Puppy Adoption Process

Step 1: Complete a Puppy Adoption Application.

The first step to adopting a puppy is to fill out a Puppy Adoption Application. We personally read through each application to assess each family as a potential Doodle home.

Step 2: Talk with us by phone or Video Chat.

After we’ve reviewed your application, either Jana or Brooke will follow up with an email or phone call to discuss your dream for a Doodle in more detail! You will NOT be placed on a puppy reservation list until you’ve applied and been approved.

Step 3: Place your puppy deposit.

After your application is approved and we have discussed which Doodle is the best fit for you, you can place a non-refundable puppy deposit via PayPal through my website. If this option is not available to you, you can send a check by mail. NO post-dated checks are allowed. The non-refundable deposit is $500. This deposit makes you a priority puppy family and places you as next-in-line to choose a puppy!

Step 4: We will email you a signed Puppy Deposit Receipt Document.

This document states all information about your future puppy and payment details: litter due date, your deposit amount and balance due, your place in line to choose from the litter, and your puppy’s adoption date.

Step 5: Time to choose your puppy!

Puppy choice happens when your litter of choice is about 3 weeks old. Puppy choice is in deposit order (the first person to place a deposit for the litter reserves their puppy first, second deposit reserves their puppy second, etc). Each family will choose their puppy by photos, videos, or live FaceTime/Zoom. If there are more deposit than puppies, you’ll be moved to the top of those parents’ next litter, or you can move to a different litter.

Step 6: Visit your puppy.

When your puppy is about 5 and 6 weeks old, you’ll be invited to our signature Puppy Play Date in my home! This is each reserved family’s opportunity to meet their puppy in person for the first time.

Step 7: Bring your puppy home.

Puppy Adoption Day takes place at 8-9 weeks old. No puppy will be released before 8 weeks. Before pickup day, your puppy will visit the veterinarian for a full health wellness check, vaccines, and de-wormer. You’ll get an RSVP from us to book your puppy pickup time and day!

Accepted forms of payment are cash or a personal check. Please confirm with us before writing your check. For puppies sold in MN, the 7.375% sales tax rate will apply on pickup day. For puppies sold in WI, the 5.5% sales tax rate will apply.

Flying with a Puppy

I NEVER ship a puppy as cargo! If you’d like to fly your puppy home, we are happy to meet you at MSP for $200 to deliver your puppy. If you can’t fly to meet us, we sometimes can arrange “flight nanny” and fly to you! To ensure the comfort, safety, and health of your puppy, either I or an immediate family member will be your puppy’s “flight nanny.”  For flight nanny, we charge the price of tickets and our time. This includes a carrier, airport parking, and the puppy’s Certified Veterinarian Inspection (CVI form).

Giving Back

As a family-focused small scale breeder, part of my mission is to give back to my community. I love to make adopting a puppy possible for families who need the love only a Goldendoodle or Bernedoodle can give.

I offer a discount to families in direct need of a therapy or service dog, and a discount for those in full-time military, police, other non-profit community service, and retired veterans.

If you believe you qualify for my puppy discount, please contact me directly. We will discuss your need and determine which Doodle is a fit for you!

We love our doodle!!

Smart, lovable, great with kids and very trainable!

The puppies are loved so much as you can see in the videos. We have a baby from the 2nd litter and he is amazing. Smart, lovable, great with kids and very trainable. I looked around and am really glad to have adopted from Brook’s Goldendoodles.
